2015 MISS RODEO MISSISSIPPI & MISS DIXIE NATIONAL PAGEANT RESULTS
 
(Jackson, MS) – The Miss Rodeo Mississippi Foundation is proud to announce the winners of the 40th Annual Miss Rodeo Mississippi Pageant, and 41st Miss Dixie National Pageant. The pageant was held January 10, 2015, on the Mississippi State Fairgrounds, in Jackson, Mississippi, with the winners being featured at the Dixie National Livestock Show and Rodeo in February.   
 
Laura Sumrall, of Summit, MS (Pike County), was selected to promote the sport of Rodeo and the State of Mississippi in 2015. She will represent Mississippi at all Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) events statewide and abroad, for a period of one year, as well as compete for the title of Miss Rodeo America, in Las Vegas, Nevada, December, 2015. Laura, who is the daughter of Hiram and Dr. Dawn Sumrall, is a Senior Agricultural Communications major at Texas A&M University. She is currently the captain of the Texas A&M Equestrian team.
 
Summer Weldon, of Martin, Tennessee, was selected Miss Dixie National for 2015. Summer won all three divisions of the Miss pageant (Horsemanship, Personality, and Appearance), and was awarded most photogenic. She will be featured at events such as the Dixie National Livestock Show & Rodeo, and Pageant in Jackson, as well as the Tri-State Rodeo Association Finals. Summer is Junior at Westview High School, where she is involved in High School rodeo, FFA, Spanish Club, and Anchor Club. Last year, Summer finished sixth in the Nation in girls cutting at the National High School Rodeo Finals, in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
 
First Alternate was Vanessa Ratliff of Learned; Mary Ashley Rohrscheib of Falkville, AL was Second Alternate; and Chloe Ann Payne of Biloxi, MS, was Third Alternate and won Most Photogenic.
 
Gracie Danielle Newell, of Meridian, was crowned this year’s Jr. Miss Dixie National. She is the 13-year-old daughter of Dr. Daniel and Amy Newell, and attends Southeast Middle School. She has won many rodeo honors over the year’s, but most recently qualified for the National Little Britches Finals in Pole Bending, where she finished 6th in the Nation.
 
First Alternate was Kali Grace Cotten, of Yazoo City; Second Alternate was Laura Flowers of Vicksburg; and Carla Collins of Pontotoc, MS, was Third Alternate. Gracie won the horsemanship category, while Kali Grace brought home the Appearance, Photogenics, and Personality categories. Laura was voted Miss Congeniality by her fellow contestants. Dakota Wells, of Summit, received the Spirit of a True Cowgirl Award.
 
Thirteen young Mississippi cowgirls were named Miss Dixie National Sweethearts for 2015 and will be featured at this year’s Dixie National Parade. The newly crowned sweethearts are: Cara Beth Calhoun, Brandon, MS; Grace Harris, Arlington, TN; Addison Keller, Vicksburg, MS; Laken Hester, Pearl, MS; Molly McBride, Yazoo City, MS; Lilly Cotten, Yazoo City, MS; Madye Bath, Raymond, MS; Savanna Reed, Pelahatchie, MS; Ruth Anne Greer, Crystal Springs, MS; Emma Cotten, West, MS; Hailey Harris, Arlington, TN; Fallon Frisby, Brandon, MS; and Emily Morgan Edwards, Brandon, MS. Savanna received the Appearance award, while Emily won Personality and Photogenics. Madye was voted Miss Congeniality.
 
Miss Rodeo Mississippi 2005, Cari Keyes Landers, and Miss Rodeo America 2010/Miss Rodeo Mississippi 2009, Kelli Jackson Russell, were on hand to present the awards to all of the contestants.
