2018 Tennessee Carriage Driving High Point Awards

The Middle Tennessee Carriage Club (MTCC) and the Nashoba Carriage Association (NCA) combined forces to recognize their outstanding members for 2018.

There were four Point-qualifying competitions at which drivers could earn points:
May 12, 2018 – NCA Driving Derby, Olive Branch, MS
June 16, 2018 - MTCC Schooling Driving Event, Shelbyville
October 19-21, 2018 – NCA Driving Derby + Working Pleasure classes at NCC, Germantown
November 11, 2018 – MTCC Driving Derby, Franklin

There were 6 Divisions of driving levels and horse/pony size:
Training Horse, Training Pony
Preliminary Horse, Preliminary Pony
Intermediate Horse, Intermediate Pony

Points were recorded from all four competitions, with the lowest score for each Horse & Driver being dropped. That means that at most, scores from three shows will be used to determine the high point winners.  Ties were broken by coin toss.

If any competition did not hold a specific division, but the driver is legitimately allowed to enter another division, the point score will be used, but in the highest division level entered across all the shows.  For example, if a Driving Derby only offers a “Preliminary+” division, but you have entered Intermediate divisions in other areas (NCC Derby, MTCC Schooling Event) then the driver’s Preliminary+ score was used in the year-end Intermediate total.

Final standings were announced in December, and Championship ribbons and trophy, and Reserve championship ribbons were delivered to club coordinators in time for handing out at either a holiday event or annual meeting.

Also there were “Most Valuable Volunteer” ribbons for both MTCC and NCA events.
