Pack Up The Kids And Head For The Mid-South Horse Expo 2004
The Mid-South Horse Expo 2004 (MSHE) is coming to town on October 16 and 17 at the Show Place Arena in Memphis, TN. The MSHE previously known as Equifair, first appeared in 2001. Designed, developed, and produced by the Shelby Farms Equestrian Alliance (SFEA), the Mid-South Horse Expo has a three-pronged goal; (1) create a festive, family friendly, and non competitive market place where exhibitors of all things horse related can meet with similarly interested people to ponder the merits of the world of horses and "horse stuff"; (2) raise funds in support of SFEA's mission of encouraging equestrian activity in the Mid-South especially at Shelby Farms in Memphis; and (3) raise funds in support of Ronald McDonald House Memphis Exhibitors play a key role in the MSHE. In fact, part of the goal of the MSHE is to create a festive, family friendly, and non-competitive market place where exhibitors of all things horse related can meet with similarly interested people to ponder the merits of the world of horses and "horse stuff" Mid-South Horse Expo 2004 promises to be the best yet! Bigger and better acts for the Saturday Evening family Show. More exhibitors with the latest and greatest horse stuff. More Breed associations and clubs. Rick Lamb will be the Daytime announcer and the Master of Ceremonies for Saturday's Evening Family Show. Additionally he brings The Horse Show LIVE! to the Mid-South Horse Expo 2004. Clinicians and other speakers will join Rick for several sessions of his "live" radio show. The Horse Show LIVE! format is part interview, part audience Q&A and all education. Wahl Clipper, exclusive sponsor of Lamb's 2004 expo tour, will provide a Pro Series Rechargeable Clipper to be given away at each presentation. A lifelong horse lover, Rick is also a talented musician, writer and audio engineer. The Horse Show with Rick Lamb is a two-hour weekly syndicated program on horses that has garnered six national awards. Rick is heard on nearly 100 radio stations and the Internet. Jousting that medieval pass time that so excites the spirit; when brave knights compete for the hand of the beautiful fair maiden. The Order of the Brass Money from Georgia is a skilled team of professionals dedicated to the faithful and accurate promotion of jousting as both a sport and spectacle. The team has been active, in many forms, for over a decade and possesses a unique arsenal of skills and talents. The Order of the Brass Monkey will joust at the Saturday Evening Family show and give short demonstrations during the Expo. William Burch has experience of a wide variety of jousting styles form the medieval jousting of the fourteenth century to the Sixteenth century tournaments of the Tudor age. Matthew Mansour and Hollis Hale make up the rest of the team of the Order of the Brass Monkey. Let's not leave out the Cowboy Shooters who will also perform on Saturday night at the MSHE's Family Evening Performance. What is Mounted Shooting? Mounted Shooting is like barrel racing with balloons in between the barrels. The rider shoots black powder blank cartridges from .45 caliber pistols, at balloons, and is scored on accuracy and time. Mounted Shooters use .45 caliber single action revolvers like those used in the late 1800's. Cowboy Shooters try to look as authentic to the period as possible, by wearing shirts without collars, and high waisted pants with buttons, not zippers. Think in terms of "rolling back the clock " to the late 1800's and you will have a pretty good idea of the look that Cowboy Mounted Shooters are trying to present. On Sunday morning come see Barrel Racing at it's best starting at 10:00. See horses flying through the barrel pattern as the try for the $1000 added money and an 80% payback. Sponsored in part by the Mid-South Horse Review and Arlington Saddle Club. Entry fees are $35.00 and anyone interested in participating may call 901-385-1228 or 901-385-9638 for information. Sunday afternoon will be the Parade of Breeds at 2:00 when we bring the horses out of the barn and let them strut their stuff in the main arena. See the huge Shires and the minature donkeys together. Check out the Bashkir Curly with it's unusual coat. Go international with the Brazilian Mangalarga Marchador, Akhali Tekes, Spanish Barb, and the Swedish Gotland horses just to name a few of the thirty one different breeds of horses being represented this year. For the kids we have a great children's court set up with pony rides, Bryer horse painting, stick horse races, and more to keep them entertained while you shop at the over 46 vendors coming to the event or take in one of the many demonstrations, lectures and seminars that will be going on all weekend during the Mid-South Horse Expo 2004.
