Britnell Roping School Successful by Rita Smith The first team roping school by the newly crowned IPRA World Champion Heeler, Stephen Britnell was on March 16, 17 and 18 at the Circle F Arena just outside of Bartlett, Tennessee. Though the wind was cool, at least the sun shined and made it much more bearable. The 3 day school started with ground work on the roping dummies before advancing to the steers on horseback. They had a lot of groundwork and horseback work, which ended with a round robbin to produce the winners of trophy buckles and trophy rope bags given by Steven Britnell and Circle F Ranch. The winner of the Heading Buckle was Heath Hudson of Ashland, Mississippi. Brian Williams of Arlington, Tennessee was the winner of the Heeling Buckle. The 2nd place trophy rope bags were won by DeWayne Cross of Hernando, Mississippi for the Heading and Larry Dotson of Memphis, Tennessee for the Heeling. Ronald Tucker, of Grand Junction, Tennessee and Woody Key, of Como, Mississippi won Running P t-shirts. Steve said, "I just want to thank everyone who participated in my first roping school, and I hope they learned a lot and that those skills will stay with them for along time to come. I wish each and everyone of them the best luck with their roping in the future, and hope to see them at a roping some where soon. I also want to thank Charlie Fondren and Brian Williams for the use of the arena at the Circle F Ranch, and Alan Smith for all his help on the ground and especially for all the hours of pushing cattle that weekend.
