Briarwood Saddle Club Gears Up For Another Successful Year! by Sandie Simpson, Briarwood Secretary Briarwood Saddle Club is looking forward to another successful show season at the Thomas Area in Holly Springs, Mississippi. If you're looking for a place with a wholesome atmosphere to bring your family, we've got just the place. Briarwood offers a variety of classes for both ponies and horses. We have saddle horse classes, English equitation, lead-in, western pleasure classes, halter classes and speed events. We have several classes for youth, and one for our all-time crowd favorites is our speed event on foot for the "little" cowboys and cowgirls. Everyone is a winner in this class! To ensure that there is a class for everyone, we have added an adult buckaroo class this year. To ride in this class, you cannot compete in any other mounted classes. This is for the true adult beginner or the timid rider that cannot compete against the more experienced riders. Our shows will be held on Friday nights at 7:30. We will start the season with a fun show on April 12 and our point shows will be held on April 19, May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, June 14, 21, 23 and July 5. We have a covered arena so you never have to worry about a rain out, a snack bar with a variety of items to tempt your appetite, and a great group of people to ride with. Membership forms will be available at all shows. You must ride in at least half of the point shows in each of your classes to be eligible for a year-end award. If you would like any additional information, please contact Sandie Simpson, Briarwood Secretary, at 662-838-7892 or Charlotte Howard, Briarwood President at 662-838-4467.
