Pyramid Society's Egyptian Event June 4-8 At Kentucky Horse Park The Pyramid Society's annual Egyptian Event will be held June 4 through 8 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. This unique horse show features Egyptian and Egyptian related horses competing for over $120,000 in total prize money in halter, performance, dressage, native costume and liberty classes. Arabian horse enthusiasts, celebrities and visitors travel from all around the globe to enjoy international competition, Stallion Showcase presentations, educational talks, youth clinics, a stallion service auction, barn parties and a dinner and art auction. The 2002 Egyptian Breeders Challenge amateur to handle yearling classes offer over $40,000 in prize money for nominated colts and fillies. The Performance Pyramid awards over $6,000 to both Straight Egyptian and Egyptian Related Arabians, in a variety of under saddle performance and dressage classes. A $500 cash prize awaits the Junior High Point Exhibitor in classes ranging from Lead Line to Halter to Western Pleasure. The Pyramid Challenge Endurance Ride is AERC/SERA sanctioned with horses of all breeds traveling 25 and 50 mile distances around the Horse Park's picturesque 1200 acres. In addition, complimentary educational seminars will be given on Equine Anatomy and Breeding the Problem Mare. Legendary breeder and author Judith Forbis will speak and sign copies of her book, The Gift, the story of Ansata Ibn Halima. Another exciting part of the Event is the Live Auction of the Egyptian Breeders Challenge stallion services. The stallions and some of their get are brought into the arena to add to the overall experience. Artists, merchants, and the Khan El Khalili Egyptian Bazaar create an exotic atmosphere surrounding the show arena. Shoppers will be tempted by Arabian sculptures, paintings, fashion, antiquities, jewelry, specialty merchandise and equine services. Social activities abound throughout the show, from a Newcomers' Welcome and Breakfast, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres followed by a presentation of stallions participating in the Stallion Showcase, to the "Queen of Hearts" Dinner Party. This party features the "Desert Legends" Tribute to the foundation mare, *Maaroufa, as well as a live art auction of premier works. The Egyptian Event Finale and party affords everyone a chance to celebrate victories as the show winds down. The Event is presented by The Pyramid Society, an organization devoted to the preservation and promotion of the Egyptian Arabian, those rare and treasured horses whose bloodlines trace back to the deserts of Egypt and Arabia.
