Horse Care Seminar In Somerville Purina Mills is animal's best friend. Somerville Farm Supply is man's best friend. Thanks to both of them, the Equine Education Series, sponsored by Purina Mills and hosted by Somerville Farm Supply of Somerville, Tenn., was held Tuesday, April 2 at Chickasaw Electric. Approximately 70 people attended and were treated to a BBQ dinner catered by The Hut. Everyone who attended was given a "Ticket to Ride" savings book which included coupons for free bags of horse (also dog and cat) feed, savings on wormers, minerals, treats and much more. Door prizes of calendars, halters, leather cleaners and conditioners, horse feed and a set of clippers were also given away. John Law, District Manager of Purina, introduced Rusty Bane, equine specialist for the Mid-South area. Rusty spoke on nutrition, the digestive system, mouth, body condition scoring, energy and brands of feed. Prizes were given during this session as well which included bags of horse treats and leg wrap. This was followed by questions and answers. Dr. Stephen Galloway, DVM, of Animal Care Hospital in Oakland, was also a guest speaker. He talked to the audience about vaccinations, deworming and dentistry of horses. He also handed out information leaflets. David Boswell, owner of Somerville Farm Supply, was very happy with the attendance and the success of the evening.
