Bramlett's Arena New Year's Day Show Returns For 3rd Year Its becoming a New Year's tradition. The 3rd annual New Year's Day Barrel Race was a record breaker for Bramlett's Rockin' B Arena in Hernando, Mississippi. Contestants hauled their horses from all over the area, as far away as Scottsville, Kentucky, Bargersville, Indiana, Portageville, Missouri, Rainbow City, Alabama, as well as Arkansas and Tennessee, making this the Bramletts' largest event since the arena's opening in 1999. Trailers were parked in all directions and lines at the concession stand were constant, where black-eyed peas and cornbread were on the menu for those hoping to improve their chances of winning their part of the more than $10,000 paid out. Arena regulars were happy to have the round pen back in working order, but not as happy as Keith Bramlett, owner of the arena. Recent rains had made the outside pen unusable for the past two weeks and riders had to warm up their horses under the lean-to and in the arena between classes. Keith commented, "It was hard without the warm-up area, but everybody was great. They all worked together and nobody got upset. We have a lot of great people who ride here. We have a good time and try to keep things moving." That was evident New Year's Day when over 400 horses were run in under 8 hours. Every Saturday there is $1,000 added Barrel racing at the Bramletts Rockin' B Arena in Hernando, Mississippi. Trainers start at 10:00 a.m. and the show at 2:00 p.m. Call Betsey or Keith at 662-429-0553.
