Tennessee Donkey Association Annouces Schedule In February 2002, ten donkey owners got together and formed the Tennessee Donkey Association. Since that time, this organization has grown to 77 members! Prior to the formation of the club, the only known event in Tennessee was the Great Celebration Mule and Donkey show held annually in Shebyville. Thanks to club members' contacts, a show was organized and held at the Bedford County Fair in Shelbyville last August. We were also invited to participate in the Miniature Horse Volunteers Fall Fun Show in Columbia last October. Officers of the club, along with various members, have been working hard to get events in Tennessee for donkeys to show in this year. We have made tremendous strides in arranging several events and shows for 2003. Donkeys will be exhibited at the Volunteer Horse Fair March 21st through 23rd. in Murfreesboro. April 3rd is the date set for an exhibition event that will be held at Maury County Park in Columbia, TN - the miniature donkeys will Coon Jump at 5 pm and have a Costume Class at 7 pm- this was arranged with the very gracious Mule Days Committee. May 16 th and 17th the 10th Annual Rare Breed Livestock, Miniature and Pet Expo will be in Knoxville, TN. August 9th the Bedford County Fair show will be held again at their fairgrounds in Shelbyville, TN. Then thanks to the wonderful people of the TN State Fair Board, in Sunday, September 14th a show will be held at the TN State Fair in Nashville, TN beginning at 9 am. Many members also plan to attend and /or be exhibitors at the annual Great Celebration Mule & Donkey Show, July 3rd through 5th at Shelbyville. The TN Donkey Association is very excited about all the events arranged to showcase the wonderful breed of donkeys. For more information, please contact the following.
