Calling All Ladies And Gents! Rolex Time Is Here! by Wand Jones and Jamie Dean Jones Calling all ladies and gents! Your presence is requested at the 2003 Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event. The event runs the 24th through the 27th of April in Lexington at the Horse Park and promises to be the event of the year. The United States is gearing up for the 2004 Olympic games in Athens and this year Rolex will be a qualifying event. So, what does that mean? The qualifying events promise to be packed full of top notch riders from around the world. Old favorites will return and new faces will attend. Competition will be tight and you will sit on the edge of your seat as you wait for the days events to unfold. Of course, this is the case every year...but you do not always get to see the caliber of athletes horse and human alike that is present at the event. There are two riders in particular that I will be watching: Kim Severson-Vinoski and Amy Tryon. Last year, Kim Severson-Vinoski and her mount WINSOME ADANTE placed first. She put in a specutacular round all three days. I personally have been anxious to watch her ride every year for the past few years. She possesses an enormous amount of talent and she is definitely, in my estimation, going to be one of our finest athletes yet. Amy Tryon also placed third last year with her mount POGGIO II. I have also watched Amy closely in the past few years. She holds a special place in my heart because she is a model of determination and commitment. She always put in a spectacular ride. And I have a great deal of respect for her because she is a firefighter. I knew that she held this occupation way before September 11. Firefighting and rescuing takes such a great amount of commitment. It's absolutely fabulous that she can balance her love of horses and rescuing and excel at each. So, this year promises to be spectacular, astound, seat gripping, heartpounding ...make sure you are there. Call the area hotels early to get reservations. They always fill up fast. If you aren't able to attend, check out the website att www., catchthevideosonthe OutdoorLifeNetwork, or order the compilation video from the event. But make sure that you keep in touch and stay tuned in to see how well our rides will place!
