North Mississippi Horse Expo & Trade Show Scheduled For April 12 & 13 Plans are being finalized for the first North Mississippi Horse Expo and Trade Show which will be held in Holly Springs, Miss. at the Marshall County Fairgrounds on April 12 and 13. Trade show promoter Lisa Williams said the response to the Horse Expo has "exceeded all expectations. North Mississippi is filled with families who own horses or want to own horses. This will be a fun event for the entire family." The Expo will feature training demonstrations, educational seminars and an old-fashioned "trade day" where horse owners can bring their mounts to "horse trading hall" to sell or trade. The inventor of the Noavel Headstall, Rick Wheat, of Batesville, Arkansas, will demonstrate his revolutionary training devise. Dr. Jim Watson from the Mississippi Animal Board of Health will discuss the West Nile Virus and the effect it has on horses. Pat James with the Association of Equine Dental Equilibration will give seminars on Equine Dentistry. John Law, a representative from Purina will discuss equine nutrition. The trade show will have vendors presenting a variety of equine and equine related products such as tack, riding apparel, steel buildings, trailers, and much more. Vendors such as Mill Creek Manufacturing from Lancaster, Kentucky; Karr's Supply and Trailers from Mt. Pleasant, Miss. and The Clipper Shop from Memphis, Tenn. will be displaying their products. Terry Tyron of Terre Haute, Ind., a former Pat Perelli corral leader, will present a clinic dealing with being a partner with your horse. He will demonstrate colt starting, trailer loading and problem solving. A petting zoo and pony rides will be available for the kids, and "Fun Time" Inc. from Houston, Miss. is bringing "Ole Ring Eye" the mechanical bull for those who want to rodeo. On Saturday, April 12 at 7:00 p.m. the MCKHA Saddle Club will hold its first show for the Summer Series with up to forty-two classes including Paso Fino, Padded/Unpadded, Speed, Kid's Classes, and Quarter Horse Classes. Admission to the North Mississippi Horse Expo and Trade Show is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children ages 7-14 and children 6 and under is free.
