Briarwood Saddle Club Gearing Up For 2003 Show Season Briarwood Saddle Club will be holding their club shows at the Thomas Arena in Holly Springs, Mississippi for the third year. There will be 13 point shows beginning on Friday night, April 11 at 7:00 p.m. Briarwood, one of the oldest Saddle Clubs in the Mid-South offers a variety of classes. Halter, Youth, Showmanship, Lead-In, Pony Horsemanship, Buckaroo, English Equitation, Western Pleasure classes, Saddle Horse classes, Amateur Walking Horse, Flags, and Barrels, Poles and Speed classes for both ponies and horses. The top five riders in each class are placed and year-end high point awards for the top five riders who ride in 50% of their classes are given. Briarwood memberships will be available at the first point show. Thomas Arena is an excellent facility, offering a covered arena, concessions, clean rest rooms, and rarely a rain-out! Briarwood is a member of the Southern Amateur Saddle Club Association ( SASCA) and will be hosting two SASCA shows on May 31 and August 16. Our Briarwood Queen for this year is Leigh Ann Clifton and our Princess is Erica Bailey. The girls will be representing Briarwood at the SASCA Royalty show on April 6th at the Marshall County Fairgrounds. Officers for the 2003 season are Charlotte Howard, President; Christina Howard, Vice President; Barbara Kalafat, Vice-President; Sandie Simpson, Secretary; Ruben Lopez, Treasurer; and Van Beasley, Chaplain. The 2003 board members are Dana Kamp, Rhonda Wade, Tricia and Tommy Casterlin, Sheila Clifton, Donnie Holbrook and Angie Bailey.
