A Night of Family Fun in Murray, Kentucky
Bull Blowout ’14 in Murray, Kentucky on Saturday, February 15, 2014, featured world-renowned trick roper Ray Kozak, barrel racing, a calf scramble, bull riding, and mutton busting—an event in which little cowgirls and cowboys ride a sheep. It is restricted to children between the ages of two and six, with height and weight restrictions that also apply. Mutton busting was introduced at the National Western Stock Show in the 1980’s. Professional Bull Rider Colby Criswell started out riding sheep!
Trick roper Ray Kozak spins his rope in the opposite direction. His unique technique has earned him two Guinness Book of Records titles. Nicknamed “the Breeze,” he holds the record for throwing the biggest big loop and for the quickest 100 meter running Texas Skip.
Riding a bull was on Tom Lynch’s bucket list. Four years ago, the fifty-four-old preacher from Clarksville, Tennessee attended a bull riding school in Martin, Tennessee and fell in love with sport. Since then, he has participated in thirty bull rides and plans to ride until injury stops him.
