Third Time’s A Charm For William Fox-Pitt At Rolex

Under sunny skies on Sunday afternoon, April 27, Great Britain’s William Fox-Pitt and Bay My Hero, the last riders to go in the stadium round, put in another faultless jumping performance to win the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event**** for the third time. The pair were second after dressage, but moved to first place after cross country, putting in a no-fault ride on Derek Di Grazia’s course, and winning with just their dressage score (44.0). Fox-Pitt has won over 50 international three-day events and is the current FEI Classics leader. Bay My Hero is an Irish bred horse owned by Katherine Witt.

Fox-Pitt said of Bay My Hero after his foot-perfect round: “I'm so proud of him. I've had him since he was a six-years-old, and he just jumped superbly today. I’m very happy with him.”

USA riders captured second through eighth places. Lauren Kieffer and Veronica finished in second place, with only their dressage score (47.6) Third place went to the Buck Davidson, Jr. and the bay gelding Ballynoe Castle RM with only his dressage score (51.7). Sinead Halpin and Manoir De Carneville, also with a final score of 51.7, placed fourth. Marilyn Little captured both fifth and sixth places: fifth on RF Smoke On The Water (52.5) and sixth on RF Demeter (55.3). Phillip Dutton and Trading Aces were eighth (57.5), having incurred 4 jumping faults and 1 time fault in the stadium round. William Fox-Pitt’s other mount, Seacookie TSF finished ninth, also with only his dressage score (59.1).
