Alex Joerg Qualifies for Maclay Finals.
Alex said she hadn’t gone to a lot of horse shows this season. “We got there the most economical way, I guess.”
Alex started riding “Hoshi” (Darkest Hour’s barn name, means “Star” in Japanese) as a green horse and has brought him along under the mentorship of Beanie Cone at Hunter’s Edge Stables. “We both jumped 3’6” for the first time together,” Alex explained of her training process with Hoshi. He is a 16.1 3/4 hh 10-year-old Thoroughbred cross and “Is the sweetest horse I’ve ever met,” said Alex.
Qualifying for the Maclay Finals has been a goal for Alex for several years. “Maclay and Equitation are my favorite classes, more so than the hunter classes,” Alex said. She said Beanie has been so supportive of her efforts and now “I am so excited to be able to go!” she exclaimed.
The Maclay Finals take place at the National Horse Show, one of the top shows in the U.S., which will be held October 28-November 2, 2014 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY. The event features a full array of hunter divisions, Junior & Amateur Owner Jumpers, the top Open Jumpers from the USA and around the world, as well as the Maclay National Championship.
