A USTRC sanctioned National Finals qualifier, the Mississippi Classic brought team ropers from all over the country to Tunica, Mississippi on December 9-11, 2016 for a chance at some of the $200,000 USTRC Flex Earnings. Ropers came from 17 states in the U.S., plus ropers came from Brazil, Mexico, and Canada. The event was dual sanctioned by USTRC and the Patriot, produced by Rope The Ozarks.

Roping action started at 9 am daily, with the Open, #15, #13, #12 and #12 Slide Muley Roping starting on Friday. Saturday’s action began with the Gold Plus #12, followed by #11, #10 and #10 Muley roping. The weekend’s events finished with the #10 Gold Plus, #9, and #8 on Sunday. The show offered 80% payback on Gold Plus #12, 17 Trophy Gist buckles and 12 Trophy Gist knives.

Open Champions were Morgan Jones and Zack Mabry (41.09), earning $1700. The #15 winners were Coy Rahlmann and Casey Hicks (26.99), earning $2120. The #13 winners were Blane Maxwell and Jason Stroup (31.07), earning $3100.The #12 winners were Blair Kelley and Jordan Reynolds (29.82), earning $2900. The #9 winners were Tommy Thompson and Cade Cowan (38.13), earning $5380.

Wyatt Hefner was Champion 6 & Under Dummy Roper.

Winners of each division get to go to the USTRC Finals in Oklahoma City, next October 21-29, and to the Patriot Finale in Fort Worth, Texas the last week in February, 2017 at the Cowboys’ Stadium.
