Woodstock Cuba Saddle Club Halloween Trick or Trot

By Lydia Holland

The annual WCSC Halloween Trick or Trot show was held on Saturday October 24th. It was raining that morning but the rain held off and the show was able to go on with perfect arena conditions. The arena was decorated with tombstones, ghosts and goblins, spider webs and much more! The Trick or Trot show had about 40+ entries for the costume classes, which included costumes with horses, and for kids without horses, with the top three best costumes in each division winning a custom medal by Dagen’s Jewelry. Everyone got a goodie bag filled with candy. The Adult Costume with Horse winner, Goldilocks (Tayla Eppich) received a $25 gift certificate to Frontier Western Store.

The show consisted of fun classes ($1 entry fees) including Ogre’s Lead In (kids lead the adults in), Pumpkin Water Race (Water balloon Race), Ghostbuster Shoot Out (water gun race), Zombie Trot (slowest trot of barrel pattern), Monster Mash (Cracker Race), Now you see, now you don’t (Musical Poles), and ended the night with jackpot barrels. There were even a couple of classes that didn’t require a horse, such as the Casket Race (Feed Sack Race) and the Cemetery Race (Wheel Barrow Race).

All the trailers bought their Trailer Treats so the kids could go trick or treating to each horse trailer. We had hayrides all night and had an outdoor movie projector set up with Hotel Transylvania & Monster House on the big screen. There was a best decorated pumpkin and best carved pumpkin contest. Concessions featured a Frito chili cheese pie, which sold out by nights end!
