Germantown Charity Horse Show Rescheduled to 2021

2020/05/05

By Wanda Chancellor

It is with great disappointment that the Germantown Charity Horse Show is rescheduling its June 2-6, 2020 horse show.  The Show has never been canceled in its 72 years, but the 72nd annual show is postponed to June 8-12, 2021.  The outbreak of COVID-19 has created an unprecedented global situation that is evolving with an unknown outcome. This has made it necessary to postpone the show for the good of the community.

The decision to postpone the GCHS was made by the GCHS Board, show managers, and the equine community.  It was the fear of all involved that the pandemic may not have abated in time to risk the large scale gathering of equestrians who attend the event.  The health and well-being of the exhibitors, vendors, volunteers, and spectators were upmost in the minds of the organizers.

The 2020 Germantown Charity Horse Show had special meaning this year, as we were honoring the late Executive Director, Bobby Lanier.  An uplifting event is being planned in his memory for the early fall.

The Germantown Charity Horse Show will continue to honor its commitment to Kindred Place, the beneficiary of the show for over twenty years.  A charitable donation will also be presented to a local charity (to be determined) that is helping victims directly affected by COVID-19.

Families in our communities need help. Often behind closed doors, anger, violence and abuse take place. Kindred Place understands that relationships can be complicated. With a team of 14 therapists, Kindred Place helps families with individual counseling, group therapy, and classes for adults and children. Therapists work with children and adults to improve communications and resolve conflicts. Services are available in both English and Spanish.

Thousands of families are assisted each year by the counselors and therapists at Kindred Place. If you would like to be part of supporting this organization, please join our sponsorship family. Find more information at: https://kindred-place.org/

We appreciate our generous sponsors and spectators. We look forward to June 8-12, 2021, when we will all be together again in the heart of Germantown to enjoy the 72nd Germantown Charity Horse Show. Visit our website: www.gchs.org or follow us on facebook at Germantown Charity Horse Show.
