Dressage Clinic with Julio Mendoza
Central Tennessee Dressage Association hosted a clinic for CTDA members with Julio Mendoza on December 12-13, 2020 at Travelers Rest Farm in College Grove, Tenn. Jenni Hogan and Jenny Kemp were the organizers for the clinic. These ladies were awarded an Educational Scholarship from CDTA to help supplement the cost of the clinic.
“He really was amazing! He turned around a couple of unruly horses in the two days of clinic,” commented photographer Patricia Wendell.
USDF Gold Medalist Julio Mendoza trains riders and horses in dressage, along with his wife Jess Mendoza, at Mendoza Dressage in Columbus, North Carolina, near the Tryon International Equestrian Center. He grew up on his father’s farm in the valley of Tumbaco, Ecuador. He has trained several horses to Grand Prix level and competed in the International Cup in South America for five years in a row, always placing in the top five. In 2007 he relocated to the U.S. to the foothills of North Carolina. In 2018 Julio and his Grand Prix horse Chardonnay, a then-13-year-old Oldenburg, competed at the World Equestrian Games at Tryon.
