Lucky Dog Barrel Race
Lucky Dog Productions hauled their semi-trailer to the Show Place Arena in Cordova, Tenn. on Mother’s Day weekend (May 6-9, 2021) for the third event of their 2021 barrel racing season. The event featured the Breeders Challenge qualifier (#3 out of 4); $10,000 added Futurity; $7,000 Open 4D; $1,000 added Derby; and $2,500 Pack 5D. According to show personnel, the event attracted 419 contestants from 20 states around the area. Fessler Photography was official photographer for the show, and favorite announcer Lenell Dean was back calling the runs.
Tennessee Equine Hospital staff were on hand to handle any veterinary issues, and Dr. Monty McInturff, owner of TEH, was personally handling some of the equine veterinary care.
Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies were out in force, too, with three stationed in the indoor arena and two others parked in the driveway to monitor outdoor activities. One deputy told me that they were on site to try to prevent thefts from the trailers.
