Mid-South Little Britches Assoc. Ends Season The Mid-South Little Britches Association will hold their season ending rodeo and awards program June 23, in Starkville, Mississippi. The first performance will be at 10:00 a.m followed by a luncheon and year-end awards. The second performance will begin at 6:00p.m. "The year's been excellent," said President Dr. Gary Jackson. "We now have seventy-nine members. We've grown by about twenty-five members this year. "Last year we took twenty-eight kids to the National Little Britches Rodeo and we'll take at least twenty again this year. "We've got several kids that have all their points and will be contenders at the nationals. The nationals tallies up your five best finished." To compete is to finish in the Mid-South Little Britches Associations eyes. "We've raised over $20,000 this year through sponsorship and gate," Jackson reported. "We're going to award $14,800 to our winners on June 23." To be eligible for year-end points participants had to raise at least $100 in sponsorship. "We're going to be giving away four all-around saddles and three hundred fifty dollar buckles for reserve all-around," he said. "We're also going to be awarding champion, reserve champion and third place buckles. "We're going to try spreading the wealth around. A kids finishing in seventh is likely to take home a blanket or halter. We've going to award all the kids." Jackson also realizes this year wouldn't have been possible without volunteers. "I'm proud of the volunteers and kids," he said. "We couldn't have done this without volunteers. Everyone here is a volunteer. The only people that get paid are the stock contractor and bull fighters." Additionally he wanted to thank the sponsors for all of their hard work. "The sponsors have gone out of their way to help us this year and I appreciate them."
