Kevin began breaking, training and showing performance horses at the age of 13. He was blessed to have worked and apprenticed under some of the great trainers in the business including his father Dale McDavitt, Troy Green, Jody Galyean and Doug Carpenter. "I am grateful for the guidance and the knowledge I acquired while with each of them." After living and working in Illinois, Texas and Oklahoma, Kevin moved to Memphis in 1993 from Ardmore, Oklahoma. "I just really like this area. I feel this is the right place for me to be. The people are great and I have built a lot of true friendships here in Memphis and the surrounding area." Kevin has had a very successful career breaking, training and showing such notable horses as GOOD ASSET; GOOD VERSION and ZIPPS SHEIK. He has trained loads of youth and amateur who have worked extremely hard and with great dedication to win regional and national titles such as the All-Around Congress Amateur; Reserve High-Point All-Around at the World; seven (7) World Championship titles; Congress Champions and Reserve Champions. "Each of my customers have goals they want to achieve and we work toward these goals no matter how great or small they are. Some people just love being around horses. Riding offers great benefits; especially to the youth. It helps promote responsibility, dedication, a good work ethic and good sportsmanship. Some people just ride to relieve stress and stay in shape. It can be a great way to exercise and keep fit." Kevin is very pleased and excited to announce the addition of associate trainers, Kelly Lind and Russell Harris to his training facility. Russell and Kelly are from Fort Worth, Texas and have been breaking and showing AQHA, APHA, and ApHC horses for many years. Kelly trains and shows Western & English and all-around events. Russell trains and shows Western events. Kevin encourages people to come out and visit his facility and meet his staff. If you want to "test the waters" and see if horses are something you and your family would want to enjoy together, he recommends taking a few lessons on his lesson horses or bring your own horse for a lesson. We give 1/2 and 1 hour lessons on all disciplines. You can reach Kevin McDavitt at 662-838-4513.
