Tunica Arena On Schedule To Complete $4 Million Expansion Progress on a $4 million expansion of the Tunica Arena & Exposition Center is on schedule for completion this fall, said Roger Newman, Arena director. The new 240 livestock stalls that are being added to the facility were finished in July, as waswill a larger storage facility for dirt used in livestock events. The new covered arena n 230 feet by 400 feet, with seating for up to 500 n will be finished by early October, Newman said. "We are on schedule with this project and will soon be ready to host events requiring a much greater event space than we had previously," he said. "This additional covered arena is something that event organizers are excited about, because it means they will be able to hold two events simultaneously, or use one of the two covered arenas as a warm-up area." When the expansion project is completed, the Arena will have a total of 606 livestock stalls, a new covered arena, an indoor arena with 48,000 square feet of climate-controlled exhibition space, seating for 6,000, two outdoor arenas, and an adjacent pavilion with an additional 100,000 square feet of exposition area. In addition, the Arena provides full-service banquet facilities and extensive parking, including 50 RV spaces. "Our schedule includes a growing number of livestock shows, team ropings, barrel races, paintball tournaments and more," Newman said. "It's been less than two years since we opened, so we are very pleased that we've had the demand to significantly expand our facilities this year." Located at 3873 U.S. Highway 61 North, the Arena is owned and managed by Tunica County, Mississippi, and operated by the Tunica County Arena & Exposition Center, Inc., a Mississippi not-for-profit corporation.
