St. Jude Goes Old West With Great Success by Tom Burriss Old West Stagecoach Line, Inc. of Oakland, Tenn. hosted their second show for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital on November 1. "This was a really big show," said Ruth Gruber, who helped coordinate the show and is an Old West employee. The saddle club format show, complete with speed and special costume classes, netted $2,500 for St. Jude. Included in that total were the proceeds from concessions and items in the donation auction. Eight children who are patients at St. Jude were able to come out for the show and rode in the grand entry at the shows start. "I think we had close to 150 people at the show," said Nicole Cooley. "It was definitely the biggest show we have ever had." "The community really loves St. Jude," said Gruber, "and they do such a wonderful job of supporting it." Old West Stagecoach Lines, Inc. is a multi-faceted equestrian facility offering lessons, camps, ropings, and shows. For more information call 901-4654324.
