April 16, 2013-UT Extension will be holding a Forage Meeting at Pitchfork Farms located at 701 Fayette Corners Rd in Somerville, TN. The meeting will begin at 5pm and Mid-South Farmers CO-OP will be sponsoring the meeting by grilling hamburgers and hotdogs. Dr. Gary Bates, UT Forage Specialist will be discussing Bermuda and Teff Grasses. May 4-5, 2013- UT Extension, Dr. Jennifer Dunlap and the American Humane Association will be holding an Animal Emergency Services "Disaster Sheltering" 2 day seminar May 4th-5th at the Agricenter. The seminar in May is ideal for first responders, veterinarians, vet techs, pet owners and anyone who wants to know more about how to respond during a disaster and simply learn how to help your own animals in a disaster setting. When the registration on the AHA website is open, registration and payment will be through them. More details to be announced.
May 20-21, 2013- UT Extension will be hosting an Advanced Equine Management Course at the Agricenter International in the C Wing Banquet Room from 5-9 pm Monday and Tuesday nights. Dr. Bridgett McIntosh will be discussing Small Acreage Management Practices. Greg Brann, State Grazing Specialist with the NRCS will speak on grazing management, and Dr. Shawn Hawkins-UT Animal Waste Management Specialist will discuss water quality and manure management on the farm.
