Mississippi Teens Qualify For NJHFR

Hannah Lee, an 8th grade student at DeSoto County Academy, has earned a position on the Tennessee National Junior High Rodeo team. She will be traveling with fellow teammates to Gallup, NM June 23-29 to compete in the ninth annual National Junior High Finals Rodeo (NJHFR) in pole bending and breakaway roping.

Fourteen-year-old David Holt of Barton, MS will also be attending the NJHFR. He is homeschooled, and will be competing in team roping, tie down roping, chute dogging, ribbon roping, and goat tying. He and Hannah are trained by the same roping instructor: John Toole at Circle T Stables in Coldwater, MS. [John Toole contact info: 901-604-6757]

The NJHFR invites more than 1,000 contestants from 41 states, Canada, and Australia. NJHFR contestants will vie for more than $75,000 in prizes and more than $100,000 in college scholarships. To earn the title of National Junior High Finals Rodeo National Champion, contestants must finish in the top 20, based on their combined scores/times in the first two rounds, to advance to Saturday evening’s final round. National champions will be determined based on their three-round combined scores/times.
