Mid South Quarter Horse Breeders Futurity
For 32 years the Mid-South Quarter Horse Breeders (MSQHB) have been hosting a fall show to showcase the offspring of the region’s select Quarter Horse stallions. The MSQHB Futurity is one of the largest events held at the Show Place Arena in Memphis, TN. On October 25-26, 2014 some of the best looking Quarter Horses in the mid-south graced the arena, all spiffed “to the nines.” On Saturday, judges Sissy Anderson of Kentucky and Jerry Lacy, from Texas, had the tough job of choosing the best from the best. Sunday’s judge, Brent Maxwell of Ohio, didn’t have any easier time picking the winners.
The show offered a full array of AQHA classes, plus 15 halter and performance classes for MSQHB eligible horses only. These included: weanling stallions, yearling stallions, weanling mares, yearling mares, yearling geldings, yearling longe line, the MSQHFR 2-year-old Bobby Davis Memorial SB, walk-trot, maturity non-pro, 2-yr-old non-pro snaffle bit, novice youth western pleasure, 3-year-old non-pro western pleasure snaffle bit, and maturity. Both days were full days of showing, starting at 8:00 a.m. and lasting until evening.
MSQHB stallions for 2014 are: A Dream Remembered, owned by Nickey Pearson of Pleasant Plains, AR; Chocolate Bar Style, owned by Richey and Lisa Haile of Pangburns, AR; Chip Rodder, owned by Butch and Penny Robertson of Falkner, MS; Clusos Invested Skip, owned by Sam and Susan Hilterbrand of Benton, AR; Mr Double Straw Dude, owned by Milton and Becky Booth of Bells, TN; Magic Principle, owned by Barry Bolton of Henderson, TN; and Pros Vindicater, owned by Butch and Penny Robertson of Falkner, MS.
